Meet Kate McAfee, a junior in college pursuing Environmental Sciences through Eastern Oregon University & Oregon State University. With a deep-rooted passion for lacrosse, Kate’s journey in the sport began in high school, transitioning from her background in soccer. As a highly invested player, she quickly rose through the ranks, earning the distinction of becoming the youngest captain in her high school lacrosse program’s history during her junior year, a role she proudly continued into her senior year.

Upon graduating in 2021, Kate was determined to continue her lacrosse journey at the collegiate level. Despite facing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she remained resilient, continuing playing for Team NorCal (yes, Colleen was her coach) and Cali Box Lacrosse in California before ultimately signing with Eastern Oregon University. Throughout her collegiate career, Kate’s dedication and leadership were evident as she served as a team captain during her freshman year.

However, an injury sustained during box lacrosse led Kate to redshirt her sophomore year. Undeterred by this setback, she found a new calling in coaching and was hired as a coach for her colligate team. Since then, Kate has immersed herself in the coaching world, working with Team NorCal, Robert Louis Stevenson High School Lacrosse, Team Bixby, Team Tribe, and the Lacrosse the Bay Organization. She loves her commitment to the sport and the ability to connect with players of all ages.

Recently cleared to play again after undergoing shoulder surgery in March 2023, Kate is eager to explore new opportunities and continue her lacrosse journey. She specializes in draws and brings knowledge as a goalie, attacker, and midfielder to the field. Passionate about making a positive impact on and off the field, she looks forward to contributing to the success of her future team! Go NorCal!
