Our Founder, Bill Glazier

Bill had a vision in 2008 to provide more opportunities for kids in Northern California to play year round, and at a much higher level versus lacrosse programs around the country. This resulted in the creation of the first, and now largest and oldest travel team in Northern California. Through Team NorCal, he has enabled more players to participate in travel lacrosse programs, and he has introduced more players at all levels of the game to the sport than anyone in the Bay Area.

He was introduced to lacrosse as a kid in Upstate New York outside Buffalo on the Seneca Indian Reservation, where his Dad was the ‘Medicine Man’ for the Newtown Golden Eagles – the Native American Box Lacrosse team. He founded his High School Lacrosse team at Sweet Home High School in Amherst, NY, played attack, winning All Western New York Honors, and played in college at Harvard, and afterwards here on the West Coast where he came for graduate school at Stanford. His wife forcibly retired him from the game many years ago when he came home from a men’s box lacrosse game covered in blood. He is, however, contemplating a return from retirement, against her wishes..

He has run the Tomahawks Youth Lacrosse Club in Palo Alto as President for 18 years. Bill founded the original Boy’s and Girl’s teams at Palo Alto High School, who both won the SCVAL title in their first years in 2011. The Boy’s team has won the SCVAL Championship in 5 times since its inception, He has helped numerous other public and private high schools in the South Bay launch their high school lacrosse programs.

He lives in Palo Alto, with his wife Katherine, who spends her time teaching flower design after raising two boys. He has a lacrosse playing younger son Jonathan who was a High School All American at Palo Alto High School (set a record at Paly for most goals and points in a year and over 4 years), the Captain of the Men’s Lacrosse team at Northwestern University and works as an Software Engineer in San Francisco, and a baseball-addicted older son William who was a Captain of the legendary Palo Alto High School team of 2010 that won the California Division 1 Football State Championship. graduated from Tufts and is now in a cybersecurity company in Silicon Valley. Bill used to spend his days starting great companies in technology and then later in the venture capital business for Redwood Ventures, but as he regularly jokes ‘his favorite start-up has always been Team NorCal Lacrosse’.

Since he has turned the reins of leadership over to Colleen in 2023, Bill will have more time to spend with his Labrador Retriever Shasta and Katherine and the boys. You will still see him around, especially at the fun events and anytime a great Hospitality Tent is involved.
